Ravi Abeysuriya, CFA

Managing Director and Country Head Amba Research Sri Lanka


Ravi Abeysuriya, CFA heads operations in Sri Lanka, one of Amba Research’s key delivery offices and manages Amba Research’s Credit/Fixed income research area. He brings 24 years of experience in the capital markets, including the establishment of Sri Lanka’s first credit rating agency – Fitch Ratings Lanka.

Previously, Ravi was Head of Corporate Finance at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. (Formally Jardine Fleming) where he was responsible for all Investment Banking activities including structuring and execution of transactions, advice on equity raisings, mergers and acquisitions, and privatizations in Sri Lanka. Prior to that, Ravi was a Senior Portfolio Manager for the largest venture capital company in Sri Lanka.

Ravi's previous experience also includes consulting for the World Bank and the Government of Sri Lanka. He identified and recommended financial sector reforms for the proper functioning of the financial system in Sri Lanka as a member of the Prime Ministerial task force and functioned as a permanent member of the Financial Sector Reforms Committee (FSRC) chaired by the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka. He was also the Founder and President of CFA Sri Lanka (the CFA Institute’s society in Sri Lanka). Currently, he functions as the President of the IT Enabled Services Association of Sri Lanka and a Commission Member of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Sri Lanka.

Ravi is a Fellow Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, United Kingdom, and has an MBA from Monash University.
